Standout performance

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) closed 2024 with a standout performance, recording a 38.1% growth in net income and a 10.2% increase in EBITDA. Central to this transformation is the strategic integration of AI into its network operations, enhancing connectivity and driving superior customer experiences and service quality across Indonesia.

IOH total revenue increased by 9.1% YoY to IDR 55.9 trillion, driven by improved consumer and enterprise customer quality and positive contributions from all business lines. Cellular revenue grew by 7.5% YoY, and Multimedia, Data Communication, and Internet (MIDI) revenue increased 23.4% YoY, due to higher revenue from IT services.

Vikram Sinha, President Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said, “2024 was a challenging year but, despite this, we managed to secure a strong performance as a commitment to continue delivering value to our stakeholders.”

This growth trajectory across key financial and operational metrics is further fuelled by Tri’s “AI North Star” ambition, focusing on securing significant partnerships and deals to unlock new value, embedding AI into every aspect of operations, and a steadfast commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

IOH pioneers the integration of AI into telecommunications, offering a premium experience that combines AI-driven intelligence with personalised human interaction. In March, IOH became the first mobile operator in Southeast Asia to deploy AI-RAN (AI-Driven Radio Access Network) with Nokia and NVIDIA. By integrating Nokia’s 5G Cloud RAN with the Nvidia AI Aerial platform, this move will boost network efficiency and performance, offering a more advanced and reliable digital experience for users across Indonesia.

In January, IOH partnered with AionoS to leverage AI for advancing Indonesia’s food security, talent development and tourism. The landmark collaboration is part of the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045, under the Government-to-Government (G2G) initiative between India and Indonesia, aimed at boosting key sectors using AI to drive innovation, economic growth, and sociocultural transformation.

The collaboration centres on AI³ (AI for Indonesia and India) with three strategic pillars: transforming Indonesia’s travel economy, cultivating a knowledge economy, and advancing sustainable food security. It also sets a benchmark for international tech diplomacy, showing how cross-border collaboration can drive shared prosperity and transform communities.
