Three Hong Kong marks the 5th anniversary of its 5G rollout with the launch of 5.5G – and a new recruit: robot shop manager 3 Boy.
With faster speeds, better coverage, and the rollout of Agentic AI, Three’s 5.5G upgrade is supercharging connectivity and powering Hong Kong’s mega event economy.
From major concerts to cultural festivals, 5.5G is now live at key venues across the city. Last August, the network boosted the crowd experience at a concert at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It also powered the Hong Kong Drum Festival in West Kowloon. At the newly opened Kai Tak Sports Park, 5.5G upgrades are underway ahead of big events. Three is also driving urban development in Hong Kong’s Northern region.
Speed tests at a recent concert venue clocked download speeds of 3,083 Mbps and uploads at 370 Mbps – ten times faster than standard 5G! The upgrade means smooth social sharing for fans, AR/VR experiences for organisers, and dedicated high-speed networks for VIP suites at the stadium.
To complement the rollout, Three is deploying an Agentic AI system that measures user experience 24/7. The collected data helps the team to enhance end-to-end network connection and usage analysis, optimising the overall user experience. At a recent packed concert, users enjoyed seamless social media access despite the crowds – a clear sign of superior performance under pressure. Together with 5.5G, this positions Three as a leader in next-gen connectivity.
To top it all off, customers were treated to a visit from 3 Boy, Three’s newest store manager. Making his public debut at 3Shop, 3 Boy showed off the latest wearables, entertained customers with interactive games, and brought plenty of laughs. Out on the street, he turned heads and delighted passers-by with his charming performance.
