Empowering Indonesia

According to a recent global survey, 72% of cyber attacks in Asia stem from a shortage of skilled specialists in cybersecurity. And with the cost of global cybercrime projected to rise to nearly US $14 trillion in the next 5 years, there’s a clear need for action.

To safeguard Indonesia’s digital economy, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Mastercard have partnered to launch the Indosat-Mastercard Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CoE). The centre will focus on three key pillars of cybersecurity; Education, Innovation, and Industry, and it’s poised to play a central role in enhancing Indonesia’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

Speaking at the launch, Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison said, “We believe what we have witnessed today will propel Indonesia’s cyber talent forward. With this initiative standing, we’re strengthening our ambition to nurture one million digital talents in Indonesia. Moreover, the commitment that has been made is driving us closer to achieving Indosat’s larger purpose of empowering every Indonesian.”

Meanwhile, in the recent ‘Empowering Indonesia Report 2024’ launched in collaboration with Twimbit, Indosat said the primary driver in empowering Indonesia will be through the implementation of AI technologies for economic growth.

The report emphasises five strategic initiatives necessary for sustainable transformation including harnessing the potential of secondary cities, enhancing digital economies in rural areas, supporting MSMEs, improving technology in the agricultural sector, and empowering women. Indosat and Twimbit will also provide opportunities for young people through the “Youth-Tech Challenge Competition” program.

“Technology and connectivity play a pivotal role in advancing Indonesia, and this report signifies our tangible step towards realizing that vision.”

Vikram Sinha stated, “Technology and connectivity play a pivotal role in advancing Indonesia, and this report signifies our tangible step towards realizing that vision. We believe this research will catalyse to strengthen collaboration, drive economic and social growth, and pave the way towards a brighter and more inclusive future for Indonesia.”

Elsewhere, Tri has once again shown its commitment to supporting Esports in Indonesia by presenting H3RO Esports 5.0 in its fifth year, with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game as the battleground. The H3RO Esports 5.0 tournament provides opportunities for Esports talents to pursue their dreams of becoming professional players and to enter international Esports tournaments.

The Tri brand has also recently been spreading kindness through its Ramadan campaign #MudahnyaKebaikan – asking customers to perform simple acts of kindness by donating internet quota to those in need. The charitable initiative, accessed via the bima+ app, attracted over 7 million participants and raised over 250TB of internet quota, which is being distributed alongside 1000 routers to students in Islamic boarding schools.
