Bridging the divide

WINTRE has announced second-year results in its long-term sustainability plan. The ESG initiatives and sustainability plan include 10 concrete, business-integrated objectives over a 2025-2030 time period, with 27 measurable KPIs.

The ‘NeoConnessi’ project, created to ensure child protection in the digital domain, has reached more than 1.5 million children and their families since it began in 2018. The ‘NeoConnessi Decalogue’ is the next phase as WINDTRE launches a partnership with the Italian Society of Paediatricians, a not-for-profit scientific association that protects and promotes children’s health and development. With the care, prevention and protection of children and their families at the forefront, ten ‘golden rules’ will be provided to educate young people and their families about conscious use of the internet and digital devices.

WINDTRE’s primary goal is to reduce the territorial, economic, cultural and demographic digital divide in Italy.

Connected Villages (Borghi Connessi) aims to accompany the growth of small Italian municipalities thanks to connectivity and smart technologies. Since its launch in 2021, WINTRE has been fostering a more sustainable development through four key areas: training adults and children on new technologies; assessing telecommunication infrastructures; developing services for the community; and providing advice on technological needs.

Launched recently, the Borghi Connessi Academy will provide training workshops to public administrations in small municipalities to learn skills, knowledge, and adopt new technologies vital for the development and sustainability of smaller municipalities. Depopulation of Italian villages and rural regions is a pressing issue.

For a second year in a row, WINDTRE has been recognised as a sustainability leader in Il Sole 24 Ore and Statista’s ‘Leader della Sostenibilità 2024’ Award. WINDTRE entered the ranks as one of the 200 most sustainable large Italian companies, among a pool of 1,500 Italian-based companies in accordance with 45 indicators, relating to three core sustainability pillars.

In April this year, WINDTRE was awarded in the ‘Large Companies’ category for its Sustainability Report. The third edition of the Sustainability Report Award was promoted by ‘Corriere della Sera Buone Notizie’ in collaboration with technical consultancy, NeXt – Nuova Economia per tutti.
